After you’ve met a moderator and gotten verified, you can RSVP for play parties and members-only events!

How to go to a play party

Play Party Registration

After each munch, the party registration goes out. This will be posted in the #party-links channel, visible only visible to Minky Members.

The registration link is through Eventbrite. It will first have you select how many tickets, give a name and email, and hit register. Then, a new popup will open for you to fill out the information related to each person in the registration–name, pronouns, age, discord username, food restrictions/allergies, and more. Please fill out all the information accurately and do not make jokes. Please be sure to use an email address that you monitor, rather than a throwaway. There is also a field of “anything else we should know”–feel free to mention anything from “this is my birthday month” to “I’m really excited for this workshop” to “I registered with X”. We try not to split-up tickets registered together, but accidents happen.

At this point, you will receive an email from Eventbrite that you are registered for the party–this is not an invite, simply a confirmation that your registration has been received.

Play Party Invitations

Then, party invites go out! You will receive an email from Eventbrite to the one you used to register. We aim to send out party invites by the Wednesday afternoon before the party. When the invites are sent out, we will post an announcement in #party-links so people are aware to check their emails.

At the same time as invites going out, every person invited will be added to a set of seven channels related to the party. These channels are a great way to get excited for the party and communicate with anyone attending. These channels are also purged at the end of the party cycle and everyone will be removed.

  • #party-info will have any information relevant to the party, such as the workshop, special considerations for that month, and anything else that must be communicated after the email invites have been sent out. If there is an urgent communication, we will use the @here ping to make sure everyone is aware (you may want to ensure the @here pings are not disabled for you within Minky–we only use them for urgent communications).
  • #party-general is a general chat channel.
  • #party-scene-planning is where you can ask the group if anyone is interested in doing a scene. You may see Mods and Associates reserve a time a specific play station. There are times we allow our members to reserve a play space under special circumstances. If you have a request, question, or other concern about something at a party, you can check #contact-us-tickets to open a party related ticket.
  • #party-ask-to-DM: if you are interested in someone else’s scene planning post, use this channel to contact them. Do not use #ask-to-DM as this can be outing to people who are not attending the party.
  • #potluck-food is where you can discuss what you’re bringing to share and see what others have listed. We try to get a good cross-section of sweet and savory, meal and dessert, and snack/munchie. There is a list of ideas in the channel if you’re stuck.
  • #party-carpooling: we are inviting 40-60 people to attend a party, and that’s a lot of cars to put on one street. If you can offer to drive others, or if you need a ride, post here.
  • #selfies-face-to-name: Think of this like a phone book of everyone who is attending! Post your name, pronouns, and a SFW selfie.

The Day of the Play Party

It’s party day! Please do not arrive at the party before the specified start time (usually 7pm, unless a special event). Arrive in vanilla wear and discreetly carry any toys. There will be someone at the door from 7-9pm to check your ID and collect donations (if you will arrive later than 9pm, let the mods know!). If this is your first party, or first party at this location, you will be given a tour. The tour will highlight social areas, kitchen/potluck, bathrooms, quiet/aftercare spaces, and the dungeon. Read our full party rules at: https://minkymn.org/parties/

Common questions about play party registration:

Have another question? Check-out https://minkymn.org/party-faq/ or join our discord and ask us!

If you have any questions about the party, please open a ticket through #contact-us-tickets. This will ensure your question is not lost as all mods will be able to see the ticket. Reasons you may want to open a ticket:

  • You need to cancel your registration or inform us that you will be especially late to arrive
  • You need to inform us of an accommodation that you will need
  • You have a special scene that you would like to reserve a space for (i.e. large group scene)
  • You have a scene idea that may need special considerations regarding our Safer Space Commitment

What do I do if I need to cancel attending the play party?

Please open a ticket to the mod team letting us know you need to cancel. Do not cancel your ticket via Eventbrite–we do not see this. As long as you let us know, we will not hold the cancellation against you for future events. The sooner we receive a cancellation, the sooner we can get someone off the waitlist.

What happens if I get waitlisted for a play party?

We have waitlists most months. If someone cancels, we will DM the next person in line to offer them a ticket. That ticket will stay available to them until they reply back that they accept or reject the ticket. If accepted, we then send an invite and add them to party channels. If rejected, we repeat until we find someone to get the ticket to.

How does the play party registration priority work?

For the most part, our party invites are randomized, but with some internal rules so we can ensure the party runs smoothly and we can serve our large membership base as best as possible. This includes:

  • We prioritize associates and moderators who RSVP. We need staff to safely run the party!
  • If you are wait listed from a party, you’re given +1 priority for the next one you RSVP to.
  • We try to be fair between returning members (been to 2+ parties), and new members (this is their first or second party). The intention of this split is to ensure new members get a chance to attend and we don’t create favoritism with returning members–everyone can/will be waitlisted equally. Within each group, the list is randomized.
  • For our age restricted events, people over 36+ have different priority, but that does not mean they don’t get get to attend. You can read more about our age restriction policy here: https://minkymn.org/simplified-age-policy
  • If you ghost us (if you RSVP to a party and get invited but do not come and do not let us know before the party that you could not come), you will automatically be moved to the bottom of the priority list for future events.
